"text": "Initiated by the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance was established in 1998, followed by the establishment of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences in 1999. The aim was to strengthen excellence in the educational and medical sectors, foster innovation, and support high-quality initiatives. These Awards were designed to identify, nurture, and encourage talent while advancing scientific research in these crucial fields. Within a few years, the scope of services and partnerships of both Awards expanded from the local framework to regional and international levels, especially with prestigious international and regional organizations such as the UNESCO, ICESCO, ALECSO, Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, Fab Lab Organization, World Council for Gifted and Talented Children, International Research Association for Talent Development and Excellence, as well as reputable medical entities like specialized universities and international hospitals. This posed more challenges for the Awards that required an advanced administrative structure and additional resources. In 2018, a law was issued to establish Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance, giving the educational initiative its own institutional identity. In 2023, another law was issued to establish Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences. This law facilitated the transfer of the educational and medical initiative legacies into a single foundation that now possesses a rich portfolio of ongoing programs and projects, along with a solid springboard for further innovation aimed at enhancing governmental and societal efforts in highlighting the importance of the education and medical sectors. The foundation works towards spreading a culture of talent, innovation, excellence, and quality, contributing to the enhancement of quality and performance levels, and fostering creativity in educational and medical institutions at both local and international levels. This includes related elements and components in line with global best practices. Additionally, the foundation contributes to the establishment and support of innovation, talent, and scientific research centers and programs.\n\nVision: A pioneering foundation fostering excellence.\n\nMission: Designing and implementing distinguished awards and programs that empower achievements in medicine and education, while nurturing the giftedness of individuals.\n\nValues: Pioneering - Integrity - Excellence - Innovation - Corporate Agility"

"text": "Dubai, UAE, September 18, 2026: Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences is continuing the evaluation process and interviews with nominees for its 2026 Medical Awards, as part of the evaluation cycle that began on 5 July and will continue until 15 October 2026.\n\nThe current cycle received 345 submissions, compared with 260 in 2025, representing growth of nearly 33%. A total of 219 submissions advanced to the evaluation stage, compared with 160 in the previous cycle, an increase of approximately 37%.\n\nThe 2026 Medical Awards comprise five awards across two main categories. The Arab World Awards include the Arab Award for Research in Healthcare and the Arab Award in Genetics, while the Local Awards comprise Best Research in Healthcare, the Innovation in Healthcare Award, and the Hamdan Award for Distinguished Personalities.\n\nThe Arab Award for Research in Healthcare received the highest number of submissions at 90, followed by the Innovation in Healthcare Award with 89, and the Hamdan Award for Distinguished Personalities with 75 submissions.\n\nThe interviews represent an important stage in the evaluation process, enabling the committees to review nominations in greater depth and engage directly with nominees on their work and achievements. This supports a comprehensive assessment against the criteria established for each award and provides further insight into the scientific and professional value and impact of the submissions.\n\nH.E. Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, said: “The level of participation in the 2026 cycle reflects growing interest in the Foundation’s Medical Awards and their role in recognising distinguished achievements in scientific research, innovation and excellence across the healthcare sector. The interviews form an important part of the evaluation process, allowing for a more detailed review of submissions and direct engagement with nominees, contributing to a thorough and well-informed assessment.”\n\nHis Excellency added: “The Foundation is committed to an evaluation process based on clear criteria and rigorous methodologies that uphold objectivity and equal opportunity for all nominees. The assessment takes into account the quality of each achievement, its scientific and professional value, and its contribution to the development of the healthcare sector. We also continue to develop the awards framework to enhance the participant experience and strengthen its contribution to research, innovation and excellence.”\n\nParticipant satisfaction also remained high, with overall satisfaction reaching 98% for the Arab World Awards and 96% for the Local Awards. Satisfaction with the award criteria for the Arab World Awards reached 99%, while satisfaction with communication for the Local Awards stood at 97%.\n\nThe evaluation process will continue until 15 October 2026, as the Foundation advances its efforts to recognise distinguished contributions to healthcare, scientific research and innovation, and support practices that contribute to the continued development of the sector.",

"text": "Dubai, UAE, September 14, 2026: Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has completed interviews with nominees for its 2026 Local and GCC Educational Awards, held on 12 and 13 September at Zayed Educational Complex – Al Mizhar as part of the awards’ evaluation and judging process.\n\nThe interviews marked a key stage in the evaluation of nominees, enabling the judging committees to discuss the experiences, achievements and educational practices presented in their applications and verify the supporting evidence, with each nomination assessed against the approved criteria for its respective award category.\n\nThe interviews were conducted according to standardised evaluation procedures and a defined methodology, with the participation of the central and specialised judging committees. This stage enabled the committees to carry out an in-depth assessment of the nominations and gain direct insight into the submitted practices and their impact on the educational environment.\n\nDr. Ali Saeed Al Kaabi, Chairman and General Coordinator of the Central Judging Committees, said: “The interviews represented an important stage in completing the evaluation process, giving the judging committees an opportunity to engage directly with nominees on the practices, achievements and evidence included in their applications and to verify their alignment with the approved criteria. This supports an accurate and comprehensive assessment of each nomination.”\n\nHe added: “Throughout this stage, the judging committees applied the approved criteria and procedures consistently, upholding the principles of objectivity, transparency and equal opportunity for all nominees. The evaluation was also based on the evidence, results and educational impact associated with each nomination, reinforcing the integrity of the judging process and maintaining the professional standards of the awards.”\n\nDr. Al Kaabi noted that the interviews also supported the qualitative assessment of the nominations by providing a deeper understanding of the initiatives and practices presented, their effectiveness and the sustainability of their impact. He emphasised the importance of this stage in forming a comprehensive assessment of the quality of the nominations and their fulfilment of the awards’ requirements.\n\nHamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences will proceed with the subsequent stages of the evaluation and judging process for the 2026 cycle, as part of its efforts to advance educational excellence, encourage high-quality practices and initiatives, and contribute to improving educational performance and the quality of education at the local and GCC levels.",
